AE 174: Aeroelasticity Units: 3
Overview of fundamental Fluid-Structure Interactions (FSI) in aerospace systems. Introduction to static and dynamic aeroelastic instabilities for conventional aircraft. Emphasizes the analytical treatment of the equations governing the response of infinite (2D) and finite (3D) wings. Investigates swept and un-swept wings, effects of finite and infinite span on flutter calculations, aeroelastic response to gusts, and aerodynamic turbulence, whirl flutter.
