ANTH 115: Economic Anthropology Units: 4
Examines the development of economic anthropology, including major themes and research questions in the field of economic anthropology. The course covers four themes: (1) the role of markets in different historical social systems; (2) the cultural underpinnings of commodities and money as mediums of exchange; (3) the emergence of “the economy” as a sphere of governance and planning; and (4) contemporary finance as a cultural issue.
