MSE 119: Computational Materials Science Units: 4
Introduces computational materials science, which involves the development and application of computational methods to model the properties of materials. Computational methods for simulating materials at different length and time scales are covered, including density functional theory, molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo, and phase-field modeling. Introduces the application of machine learning to problems in materials science. Hands-on experience with modern computational materials science software packages and develop proficiency in scientific computing, data analysis, and visualization.
