UC Merced’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) promotes the academic and personal success of all students at UC Merced. CAPS has a diverse staff of doctoral-level, licensed psychologists and supervised doctoral-level interns who have experience working with college students. Staff members reflect the diversity that is found on the UC Merced campus and strive to meet the needs of the campus community. All registered UC Merced students (undergraduate and graduate) may access CAPS services, which include confidential psychological assessment, group therapy, walk-in crisis counseling, and short-term individual counseling. In addition, CAPS staff conduct outreach presentations across campus throughout the academic year on topics such as developing effective coping skills, eating disorders, and partner/relational violence. Individual consultation is available to UC Merced students, faculty and staff who have concerns about a UC Merced student.
