Civil Engineering, B.S.

In addition to adhering to General Education, students must meet the following requirements to receive the B.S. in Civil Engineering at UC Merced.      

All students in the School of Engineering, regardless of major, are required to complete all requirements for all majors with a C- or better. (ENGR 191: Professional Seminar is the only exception, which requires a P grade.)

Students in the School of Engineering must repeat a required course after receiving a grade of D+, D, D-, F, Unsatisfactory, or Not Passed, and may do so no more than twice beyond the initial enrollment in the class.

Civil Engineering Core Requirement [11-12 units]


Complete three of the following courses:

Additional Upper Division Course Requirement [11 units]


Complete the following courses:

  • CE 100: Civil Engineering for Sustainable Systems Units: 4
  • Units: 4
  • CE 193: Civil and Environmental Engineering Capstone Design Units: 3

Civil Engineering Design Electives [4-8 units]


Complete two of the following courses:

Environmental Design Electives


Hydrology Design Electives


Geomatics Design Electives


Sustainable Structures/Energy Design Electives


Applied Design Electives


Courses must be taken concurrently.
