Lower Division Major Core Requirement [12 units]

Complete the following courses:

• PH 001: Introduction to Public Health Units: 4
• PH 005: Global and International Public Health Units: 4
• BIO 003: To Know Ourselves: Molecular Basis of Health and Disease Units: 4

Statistics Requirement [4-5 units]

Complete one statistics course from the following:

• MATH 018: Statistics for Scientific Data Analysis Units: 4
• PSY 010: Analysis of Psychological Data Units: 5

Transfer Selection Criteria

To be admitted to the Public Health major transfer students must meet the following requirements:

• IGETC Certification
• Minimum Overall GPA of 3.0

Applicants will, at the time of admission have completed at minimum each of the following courses (or their equivalent) with a “C‐” or better: 

• MATH 018: Statistics for Scientific Data Analysis  or  PSY 010: Analysis of Psychological Data  
• Strongly recommended, but not required for admission: PH 001, PH 005, BIO 003, PSY 001, ANTH 001

**Note: After matriculating to UC Merced, transfer students may not be able to complete this major within four semesters. The coursework required may take a minimum of five semesters.
