Economics, B.A.

In addition to adhering to General Education  and School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts Requirements , the Economics major requires 48 units (some of which simultaneously fulfill general education requirements). Courses in the major must be taken for a letter grade and may not be taken on a pass/no pass basis unless the course is only offered on a pass/no pass basis. Students must complete all major course prerequisites with a C-or better.

Lower Division Major Requirements [16 Units]


Lower Division Major Core Requirement [8 units]


Complete the following two courses:

Mathematics Requirement [4 units]


Complete the following course:

Upper Division Major Requirements [32 Units]


Upper Division Major Core Requirement [12 units]


Complete the following three courses:

Additional Upper Division Economics Requirement [20 units]


Complete at least five additional upper division courses in Economics.

NOTE:


This program combined with a Management and Business Economics, B.S.  program is not permitted.

Transfer Students


Transfer students planning to major in Economics should complete the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) at their community college. Transfer students may not be admitted to the Economics major without specific major preparation. Below are the current Transfer Selection Criteria for the Economics Major.

To be admitted to the Economics major transfer students must meet the following requirements:
