AE 175: Aerospace Design Units: 3
Introduces the fundamentals of aerospace vehicle design, with a focus on the conceptual and preliminary design phases. Students will explore the complete design process—from defining mission objectives and performance requirements to evaluating configurations using multidisciplinary analysis. Emphasis is placed on system-level thinking, design trade studies, and integration of aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, and stability considerations. The course develops students’ ability to make informed design decisions through analytical methods, engineering judgment, and effective technical communication.
