BCME 002: Fundamentals of Molecular Biology

Familiarizes students with the principles of molecular and cell biology required to solve contemporary scientific, biomedical, and engineering problems involving biomolecules and living systems. Topics include an introduction to the cell, the structure, function and metabolism of the main biomolecules, DNA replication, transcription and translation, control of gene expression, an introduction to molecular biotechnology: recombinant DNA, connections between molecular biology and disease, ethical considerations in DNA manipulation.
