HIST 182: Selfie Gods: Images of the Divine

Embarks on a virtual world tour of vernacular religions. Examines the folk Catholic practices of ex votos, the Hindu concept of darÅ›an, and the Sufi concept of baraka. Studies the diverse practices and histories of a multitude of spiritual traditions, from Afro-Caribbean Santeria, to Hinduism in the South Asian diaspora in Mauritius, to Senegalese Muridiyyah Sufism.
