Explores History and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies in North America and the United States through the prism of California. Focuses on societies, cultures, environments, economies, and polities in California during the indigenous past , the pre-colonial, colonial, Mexican, and U.S. Periods, roughly 600 years. Assesses California’s position as a microcosm, laboratory, and incubator of (progressive and regressive), social, cultural, economic, and political movements.
