HIST 148: Crossing Borders in Africa Units: 4
Historicizes African migration, paying attention to how African societies and experiences have been transformed by the social phenomenon of mobility (and vice-versa). Critically examines how and why Africa has evolved into “the continent with the most mobile populations in the world” through case studies drawn from across the continent and over time. Explores how population movements resulting from economic, cultural, and political changes, to name a few, have shaped Africa’s landscapes, cultures, and peoples.
