HIST 030: Introduction to Chicanx/Latinx Studies Units: 4
Examines the historical roots of the Chicanx/Latinx community in the United States with special attention to the political, economic, and cultural challenges that construct the experience of being Chicanx/Latinx. Considers Chicanx/Latinx communities in hemispheric contexts. Considers transnationalism to analyze major events and themes in U.S. Latinx history and understand the relationship between U.S. expansion and imperialism in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America and the emergence of Chicanx and Latinx communities in the U.S.
