MATH 155: Mathematics Pedagogy Units: 4
Introduces undergraduate students to effective teaching and learning strategies in mathematics education. The topics covered in the class will go beyond general pedagogical approaches and focus on specific instructional strategies applicable to mathematics. Students will examine mathematical concepts and techniques and their application to problem solving and learn about educational research-based approaches to effectively teach these mathematical tools within the secondary school curriculum. The course will equip students with skills to develop and to deliver effective lesson plans and engage them in reflections on their own experiences in mathematics classroom through writing assignments and epistemological discussions with their peers.
