POLI 157: Civil War, Insurgency, and Other Forms of Sub-State Conflict and Social Unrest Units: 4
Introduces students to the study of civil war, insurgency, and other forms of sub-state conflict and social unrest. Considers, for instance, the causes of civil war and insurgency onset; various dynamics internal to ongoing sub-state conflict – from civilian informing to rebel fractionalization; factors responsible for the amelioration of conflict as well as why civil war and insurgencies tend to end; and the consequences and other effects of conflict.
