GASP 034B: Art of Passion
Units: 2
Explores the ranchera song tradition. Students gather for this ensemble to study and share, listen to, sing and write rancheras, making sure to include early 20th century works as well as more contemporary samples. Each semester we will explore a theme common to the genre (betrayal, death, resilience, pain, the land and cities) and work to design a performance that emphasizes the singing voice through classic and original tunes.
