ENG 131: Form and Formality

Guides students through a history of formal analysis and ‘formalism’ in literary studies to consider why critics have devoted so much time to the cultivation of recognizable ‘forms,’ experimentation with new forms, the debates for and against practices of formalist criticism, and the potential future of formalism.
