BIOE 135: Biochemistry for Engineers Units: 4
Introduces fundamental chemical, structural, and functional properties of biomolecules, and tools used in molecular engineering for design principles as essential steps towards the implementation of engineering solutions to biomedical problems. Explores introductory information on drug design and development with emphasis in biologics. Introduces biochemistry concepts and their association to human physiology, including nervous, muscular, and respiratory systems. Includes the development of a project aimed at applying biochemical concepts in the design of biologics and molecular-based devices to carry and deliver biologics.
